You should go out with ______!" Have your friends ever told you that you should go out w/ so-and-so? Or even worse, have you ever been guilty of saying that to somebody and they declined with this disgusted look on their face?
I think one of the biggest insults you can make on someone is to tell them they should hook up w/ someone they're totally unattracted to. How are you supposed to react? It's like come on now? You really think I would go out w/ her/him? Then you start second guessing yourself.... Is this the best I can do?
My advice to those who are on the receiving side is to not let anyone tell you who to date. Worse case scenario, the person who your colleagues suggest for you may indeed be the best you can do for yourself, but at least in your mind, you didn't settle.
My advice for those who like to matchmake, keep your mouth shut unless you have seen some interest from side who will receive your advice or have been asked for your help by that person.
